miss-maud-smorgasbordYep, it’s that time again! Today we’ll offer up the veritable smorgasbord– Part 4 of screenwriting and filmmaking resources that come in video form. Hopefully they will be of interest. So, without further ado:

  • THE GIRL ON THE ESCALATOR

Anyone who reads this blog knows I’m a Charles Bukowski freak. I knew the guy. Have 15 of his letters on my walls. He was well known at the time of his death in ’94 but since then movies have caught up with his poems and novels. Many Bukowski projects in the works, not to mention Barfly, Factotum, and other films already out there. Under that last category, for your amusement, is this short film from Kayhan Lannes Ozmen taken from Bukowski’s poem The Girl On The Escalator. Great work, Kayhan!

  • LIGHT OUT, SHORT FILM

You’ve got a great script but you can’t get any traction. No industry connections, no agent, no track record, no major contest wins. You need millions to make that script and it’s looking bleak. But guess what… lots of ways to skin the cat. Like a making a short film version of the feature length idea. You don’t need millions to make it and you’re getting your story out there. Being proactive beats the alternative, which is waiting for a phone to ring that is never going to ring. Not unless you get out there and DO something about it. Check out this short film that became the feature Lights Out.

  • INTERVIEW VIDEOS- GO INTO THE STORY

Links to links, rrrr… but this is too much information to pass up. From the always great GO INTO THE STORY blog comes this master list of interviews by Scott Myers and staff for Go Into The Story. A sample would be this Star Wars: The Force Awakens panel discussion with none other than J.J. Abrams and the cast of the movie.

  • #WGA WEB SERIES CONFERENCE

I teach web series at Second City and love to show this short WGA sponsored panel about making web series. While you wait for that 10-million dollar Indie script to sell, how about making a thousand buck web series that helps get your name out there. Being proactive, making something smaller is where it’s at. Some inspiring stuff here…
